The presentation of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and billionaire Democratic donor George Soros by President Joe Biden generated significant controversy. This prestigious medal, which recognizes individuals who have made substantial contributions to American and global society, represents the highest civilian accolade in the United States.
Clinton was commended by the White House for her groundbreaking public service, while Soros was acknowledged for his philanthropic efforts focused on democracy and social justice through the Open Society Foundations. However, Republican critics vehemently opposed these selections, particularly targeting Soros for his support of progressive district attorneys, whom they blame for rising crime rates.
Among the dissenters were former NYPD officials and Senator Tim Sheehy of Montana, who condemned Biden’s actions as disgraceful.
