President Donald Trump’s newly appointed White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, has commenced her duties in the White House Press Briefings and is already making a significant impact by effectively countering and ridiculing leftist reporters for their nonsensical inquiries. Consequently, she has quickly become a target of disdain from the left, which has launched a campaign against her. Among those criticizing her is Whoopi Goldberg, who made the unfounded assertion that “wokeness” was the reason for Leavitt’s appointment.
Whoopi’s outburst on “The View” was triggered by a statement made by Leavitt regarding the Trump administration’s previously implemented federal funding freeze, which has since been partially lifted. Leavitt indicated that the “pause” in funding aimed to eliminate support for “transgenderism and wokeness within our federal bureaucracy and agencies.”
This remark incited Whoopi, who vociferously expressed her views on her show, claiming that it was “wokeness” that facilitated Leavitt’s position in the White House, a claim that seems illogical given the administration’s more stringent approach against leftist ideologies. She stated, “Let me clarify something for you; without that wokeness, you might not have that job!”
Furthermore, Whoopi asserted that “wokeness” was responsible for enabling women to serve as press secretaries, suggesting that Leavitt should be grateful for and endorse wokeness. She remarked, “Women were not included at that table. Women were excluded from many discussions in this country. The reason we fought tirelessly was to ensure that you wouldn’t have to face these challenges.”
Whoopi continued her unfounded argument, insisting that “wokeness was established for a purpose,” claiming it addressed the difficulties faced by black individuals and women in gaining admission to colleges, thereby implying that “wokeness” resolved this issue. She overlooked the fact that significant changes regarding this matter occurred long before the concept of “wokeness” emerged.
Regardless, Whoopi persisted in her nonsensical discourse, proclaiming that because “women were not invited” to societal discussions, wokeness was essential to dismantle the “man’s world” and secure advantageous positions for women.
Whoopi, continuing her impassioned discourse, asserted that Leavitt should refrain from using the term “wokeness” in a negative context, as she fails to recognize its positive implications for herself. She emphasized this point by stating, “So please, please stop using that phrase and discussing it, because you don’t comprehend the meaning of your words.”
As she approached the conclusion of her fervent remarks, Whoopi contended that Leavitt’s criticism of wokeness inadvertently suggests that her own profession is undesirable, a misinterpretation of Leavitt’s actual statements. Whoopi remarked, “You’re implying about yourself that, you know, ‘Hey, that’s a terrible thing to be.’ It’s not a terrible thing to be. That’s why we fought. That’s what we were fighting for.”
