White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt hinted at an upcoming significant infrastructure announcement from President Donald Trump.
During her appearance on Fox & Friends on Tuesday, Leavitt stated, “President Trump will address the press later this afternoon at the White House, where we will unveil a major infrastructure initiative.”
She further remarked, “This individual is accomplishing more in a single day than his predecessor did over four years. Yesterday marked a historic moment for President Trump; he signed numerous memorandums and proclamations, executed over 200 executive actions, delivered three speeches throughout the day, and attended three events late into the early hours of the morning, and he is already back to work.”
“The American populace has a leader who is fulfilling the commitments made to them,” she added. “President Trump made a significant impact yesterday with his decisive actions to secure the southern border, enhance energy production, and restore jobs domestically. There is no doubt that the American people have a strong leader in President Trump.”
Leavitt expressed her desire not to preempt Trump’s announcement but suggested that the forthcoming “massive” news would demonstrate that “the world recognizes that America is back.”
“Foreign leaders and investors, from Silicon Valley to Wall Street to Main Street, are regaining confidence in our economy, our markets, and in President Trump because they understand that he has pledged to lower taxes, reduce regulations, decrease energy costs, and position America as the envy of the world,” she conveyed to Fox News. “He is poised to attract investments from across the nation into our country, and the American people will hear from him this afternoon regarding this matter.”
Leavitt also criticized former President Joe Biden for “coincidentally” pardoning his entire family during Trump’s speech, suggesting that this was a tactic to prevent Trump from responding directly until much later, when Biden was already out of office.
It is a shameful act that Joe Biden chose to do this as he was leaving office, she remarked. This indicates an acknowledgment of wrongdoing. For years, Biden maintained that he and his family were innocent of any crimes, yet the pardons issued yesterday reveal that he was aware of their guilt and sought to shield them during his final moments as President of the United States. We are now looking ahead, and President Trump is eager to restore integrity to our Justice Department and reestablish law and order in this nation, while also putting an end to the politicization of justice that has been directed against him and his supporters over the past four years under the Biden-Harris administration.
This statement follows the Senate’s passage of significant legislation late Monday night. President Trump is now closer to enacting immigration-related legislation into law after the GOP-controlled U.S. Senate approved the Laken Riley Act, marking it as the first bill to pass the upper chamber in the new Congress. The vote concluded with a tally of 64-35, with all Republicans and 12 Democrats supporting the measure.
With immigration emerging as a key issue for Trump and a potent tool against Democrats in the upcoming elections, Republicans prioritized this legislation, which mandates the federal detention of undocumented immigrants charged with theft and burglary, among other crimes. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) stated on the Senate floor prior to the vote, “This legislation will guarantee that illegal aliens who commit theft or assault a law enforcement officer are detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement rather than being released back into the community.” He expressed anticipation for the bill to reach the president’s desk.
Democrats who supported the bill included Senators John Fetterman (Pa.), Ruben Gallego (Ariz.), Maggie Hassan (N.H.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.), Jon Ossoff (Ga.), Raphael Warnock (Ga.), Gary Peters (Mich.), Jacky Rosen (Nev.), Catherine Cortez Masto (Nev.), Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.), Elissa Slotkin (Mich.), and Mark Warner (Va.).
