During a Twitch livestream on January 9, the 27-year-old shared his distress as flames neared his home in Los Angeles. “I found out today that I don’t have fire insurance,” he stated. “It would be a total loss if my house were to burn down.” Amid the chaos, DDG began to seek insurance while ensuring his own safety.
DDG’s rise to prominence followed his departure from Central Michigan University to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Since their onset on January 7, the wildfires have consumed nearly 40,000 acres, claimed 11 lives, and destroyed hundreds of homes, including those of notable figures such as guitarist Larry LaLonde. Thousands remain displaced, with containment efforts reported at less than 15%.
